Sliding StopReining is an equine discipline that originated from a Vaquero (the early Cowboy) Style of riding. These horses had to be quick, athletic and very easy to ride and operate in order to handle the tasks of the cowboys. In today's horseshow and recreational world of riding, reining has evolved into its own dynamic discipline: the western Dressage. In these competitions equine athletes perform spins, lead changes, circles and sliding stops that have become the "hallmark" of the reining horse.
